Time to ruffle some feathers. However it’s important to understand that I’m not attacking this long standing North American institution for the sake of it. For an entire decade Yellow Pages allowed me to reach the cookie jar that my mom put on top of the refrigerator. It holds a special place in my heart, as do other bits of Americana such as Double Bubble and Coca Cola. But in my opinion, just like both of the latter this long standing paperback directory of local businesses is simply not good for you – if  you are a business owner considering them for your online marketing spend. Sure Yellow Pages has moved online and has an “app for that” but as we speak I do attest that businesses spending any of their online marketing budget on Yellow Pages would be far better served by investing in their own organic search for far better results. Before you call your cousin who knows a guy who works in sales over at YP, and subsequently have me receive an onslaught of hate mail, I suggest you read further.

Your Advantage in Using Website and Internet Marketing – It’s Still a Young Medium

The Internet is still a young medium. Certainly it’s got more competitive in the last few years but it’s still very young when you think of the bell curve of the effective life of an advertising and marketing medium. Yellow Pages are at the bottom of the right downward curve. Newspapers are almost at the bottom of the right downward curve, radio is not quite so far down and TV is just a little higher than that.

But the Internet is only part of the way up the left side of the curve. This means that most businesses still don’t understand it well and as a result they’re not using it well.  This means that if you use it well you’ll have an advantage over your competition.


Internet and Website Marketing is So Much More Profitable Than Marketing in Traditional Media

Internet Marketing is much more effective than newspaper or yellow pages advertising, or radio or TV or direct mail. I know because I worked in those other media for 20 years before the internet was in existence. I switched to Internet Marketing because it’s so much more powerful. For the same money as you would spend on those types of advertising we will bring you many more sales.

One thing I wanted to stress is that Internet Marketing is completely accountable. There’s no mystery to it like there is in those other media. We will be able to tell exactly how many people visited your website, where they came from, what keywords they used to find you, everything.
